Frequently asked questions

What is a Class I Division 1 (C1D1) room?

A room designed for areas where flammable gases or vapors can be present during normal operation, with ventilation, electrical and detection suited to that hazard.

What is the difference between C1D1 and C1D2?

Division 1 covers areas where vapors are present in normal operation; Division 2 covers areas where they appear only in abnormal conditions. Our booths come in both.

What standards are your rooms built to?

Rooms are engineer/peer reviewed designs built to ETL and UL 1389 standards, with UL 508A controls. Your AHJ gives final approval.

How long does it take to get a room?

Lead time depends on model and options and is quoted with your order.

Do you help with permitting?

Yes. Every room includes an engineer/peer reviewed drawing package for your permit submittal.

Can I buy components without a room?

Yes. Explosion-proof lights, fans, outlets, gas detectors and fittings are sold individually.

Do you build custom sizes?

Yes. Request a quote with your dimensions and process.

Do you build hazardous location rooms for paint, chemicals or fuel?

Yes. Indoor C1D1/C1D2 rooms and outdoor containers for paint mixing, chemical storage and dispensing, fuel and solvent storage, and battery storage, all quoted to spec.

Can I charge batteries in an LBC cabinet?

No. LBC cabinets and BSE enclosures are for storage only and are designed to UL 1487 and NFPA 855 standards.

What industries do you serve?

Solvent processing, chemical and pharmaceutical R&D, coatings and spray finishing, flavors and fragrances, battery and energy storage, oil and gas, and laboratories.
